Chic Courthouse Elopement and a Stay at the Swanky Midcentury Modern Canopy Hotel

I love capturing weddings that are unique, stylish, and full of personality. That’s why I was thrilled when Lexi + Josh asked me to photograph their chic courthouse elopement and reception that took place in both Michigan and Indiana.

Their wedding day started at the courthouse. It was intimate, low-key, and all about the couple. Lexi + Josh wanted to keep things really simple and focus on what really mattered — their love for each other. When the both arrived at the courthouse, they were both so excited and nervous, but also incredibly happy.

Lexi looked stunning in her wedding dress with delicate lace sleeves that suited her perfectly. Josh looked dapper in his suit. And they both looked so in love as they did their first look.

The ceremony in the courthouse was small and intimate with just their parents present. The judge was friendly and incredibly kind. After the ceremony, we headed to Grand Rapids Brewing Company to get some bridal portraits.

The GRBC crew was so sweet and accommodating while we were photographing their bridal portraits. After we wrapped up at the brewery, we headed over to their swanky midcentury modern hotel where they were staying for the night.

The hotel was filled with midcentury modern design, decor, bold patterns, and vibrant colors throughout the entire space. It served the perfect aesthetic as a backdrop for their wedding photos. The sleek lines, geometric shapes, and minimalist design added a retro flare that was still nostalgic and timeless.

Their reception would take place a few weeks later so they could invite their family and friends in Indiana to celebrate their union.

The DJ had their dance floor packed all night. He played everything from classics to modern hits. It was such a joy to capture the energy and excitement on the dance floor. There’s something so magical about capturing candid moments of guests having a blast. There was truly never a dull moment.

It was a celebration that the couple and their guests will never forget.
