I tried PRF + Microneedling.
Two weeks ago, I got PRF + Microneedling last week at Chasing Vanity Medi Spa with Hannah — my favorite Esthetician — and here’s what happened:
So, What is PRF + Microneedling?
Similar to PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and Microneedling, PRF stands for Platelet Rich Fibrin, which is a platelet concentrate prepared from the patient’s own blood that becomes the body’s own healing serum.
Microneedling is a device with ultra-fine needles that creates micro-punctures in the skin.
Why PRF + Microneedling?
Aging is a privilege and a natural process but can have unwanted effects on your skin. You may notice things like dark spots and wrinkles as your skin loses its natural vibrancy and elasticity that great creams and a healthy diet won’t address anymore. PRF + Microneedling is a great solution for these issues.
How Does It Work?
The treatment takes about an hour. You start with your esthetician evaluating and cleansing your skin. Once it is clean, they will apply a numbing cream to your face. As it sits, you will get your blood drawn. They will take your vial to a centrifuge device to extract the PRF. Once that is completed, your microneedling will begin. As they microneedle your face, they will top it off with your PRF to be absorbed into your skin.
The microneedling device will cause micro-punctures in the skin and the PRF acts as a healing serum. This encourages your skin to rejuvenate and speed up the healing process leaving you with glowing, even, and firmer skin.
Does It Hurt? What Does It Feel Like?
I personally have a very low pain tolerance and with the numbing cream I barely felt most of the treatment. There were a few areas on my face that were sensitive and a little bit uncomfortable but overall it was completely bearable.
I would rate the pain about a 1 out of 10 with 10 being the maximum amount of pain. Once the numbing cream wore off, I would say my pain level still remained at a level 1 out of 10. It felt like a minor sunburn that lasted about 12-24 hours.
My Results:
Within 12 hours, my neck completely tightened up. That was the very first think I’ve noticed.
Within a week:
my skin texture has improved
pores minimized
goodbye fine lines & wrinkles
scars have faded
Results are natural and should last up to a year. This service is great for anyone that isn't exactly ready for Botox® or fillers yet and wants to see what your own body can do for itself.
Is There Any Downtime?
You will want to avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 hours for maximum results. I was slightly red for no more than 12 hours and was back to normal after 24 hours.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Ideally, it would be best to start with three treatments — one per month for three months.
How Much Does It Cost?
Microneedling alone is around $400 per treatment. Microneedling with PRF is approximately $600 per treatment. You usually can get a better deal per treatment if you were to purchase a package of 3.
