Abracadabra! A Magical Lakeside Wedding in October
There's nothing quite like a wedding that combines magic, glamour, and romance all in one, and that's exactly what I had the pleasure of photographing at a lakeside wedding this October. The couple had chosen a vintage magician theme for their special day, and it was a true delight to capture all of the enchanting details and moments.
The wedding took place on the shores of a beautiful lake in Michigan with the water glistening in the autumn sun. The colors of the changing leaves added to the natural beauty of the setting, creating a magical and warm ambiance that was perfect for the occasion. The vintage magician theme was evident in every aspect of the wedding, from the invitations to the decor. The centerpieces featured old magic books, antique keys, and real candles, adding to the overall charm and elegance of the day.
The ceremony took place under a beautiful wooden arch adorned with flowing greenery and flowers overlooking the shimmering water of the lake as the sun was setting. The couple exchanged heartfelt vows, and the magic of the moment was captured in every shot. As the ceremony ended, the newlyweds headed into their glamorous tent to see their reception reveal for the first very time, with just the two of them. I don’t get to do reception reveals often but I highly recommend it. There’s something so special to see the couple experience their reception space that they’ve been dreaming about for months come to life.
The reception reveal is a chance for the couple to take a breath and just soak in the moment. They get to see their vision come to life and enjoy it before the guests join them.
Naturally, wedding days are quite busy. So, we snuck away to grab some photos of just Shannen + Jake on the water. The couple shared a private moment on the dock watching shooting stars. I snapped a few candid shots, capturing their cosmic love. The reception was a feast for the senses, with delicious food, signature “his & hers” cocktails, and music that kept everyone on the dance floor all night long. The couple had even arranged for a professional magician to perform during the reception, stunning guests with tricks that left them gasping in amazement.
The rest of the evening was filled with dancing, laughter, and so much love. Heartfelt speeches to the couple will be cherished forever. The love their family and friends have for Shannen and Jake is just as magical as the love they have for each other. It’s a storybook kind of love. A fairytale that you hope for in every lifetime. Like scenes from a movie.
The mix of digital and film, along with the hard flash, created a unique and timeless feel, capturing the essence of their day.
