“The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power.”
It’s been awhile since I’ve photographed high school seniors but I was more than excited when Olivia reached out to me to do her senior portraits. I’ve been out of high school for over 12 years now and it’s kind of crazy to see the fashion trends make their way back around.
You know, the AirForce Ones, Champion brand, and pretty much everything late 90s to early 2000s is back in. Only this time around, they are better fitting and these teens look better than we ever did in our gear. They managed to somehow bypass the awkward phase too.
Take a look at Olivia, for example. She really wanted to take her senior portraits at the beach. If my generation remembers, EVERYONE had their photos done at the beach to the point it was no longer the cool thing to do but now it’s like deja vu! It’s back in. And honestly, it was beautiful. We opted for a sunset session at Grand Haven State Park for Olivia’s session.
Seriously you guys, we had maybe like 3-4 main photographers in our city that specialized in Senior Portraits and maybe FOUR main location that everyone got their photos taken at. And, all of our photos looked the same
** (haha *cough* Harley Photos *couch*) For those of you who are old enough to remember.
The only difference now is instead of printing off wallets to hand off to your friends, they share them on social media now, like Instagram! In fact, that is how Olivia found my page was on Instagram.
Seniors, DO PRINT your photos though because it really is amazing to be able to look back at your photos as time goes one. I always recommend parents and seniors printing off at least an album with me so they will have something for their classmates to sign at their open hosues and it makes a great keepsake for you to look back on.
I love how much they put thought into their location & outfits. I’m beyond excited to help them document such a monumental time in their lives.
Whether you want your session to be print worthy, Instagram worthy, or both - be sure to shoot me an email and we can totally plan something everyone will be happy wth. With autumn quickly approaching, I have a few more senior sessions booked and a few sessions still available for fall.
