Woods + Sand Dunes Michigan Engagement Session w/ John + Kayleigh

You make recognize Kayleigh from the awesome shoot that I did with her and her coworkers this past summer at Ardor + Grit. If you haven’t seen that post yet, you can check it out here.

I was really excited that Kayleigh chose me to be her wedding photographer. We decided on doing a moodier shoot in the woods and Silver Lakes Sand Dunes and we could not have had a better day to shoot her and her fiance, John.

Kayleigh + John expressed to me that they really like the moodier photography style. We felt it was really fitting for this fall season. We wandered the woodsy area surrounding the dunes while dodging mosquitos (there’s been an EEE scare in our surrounding areas so we were pretty cautious). After all that, we decided to climb the sand dunes to give their session a completely different look and feel.

It was only my second time ever at Silver Lake Sand Dunes and I cannot express how breath taking it is every time I see it. Each session looks so different! Kayleigh brought this beauitful flowing navy blue gown for this session and it photographed beautifully. The lighting during golden hour is magical.

It really makes your shoot so much better when you have such willing participants. What’s even more magical is seeing the couple you are photographing just radiating so much joy and so excited for photos. They have found their person, and their love for one another really shines and it’s so contagious. It’s truly so beautiful. I cannot wait to capture their big day next year.
